PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively obtain graphite excellent in oxidation resistance by coating and sticking the surface of graphite powder with boron carbide powder by a specific means, and to obtain graphite-contg. prepared unshaped refractory excellent in resistance to corrosion, abrasion and oxidation by using the above graphite. SOLUTION: This oxidation-resistant graphite is obtained by coating and sticking the surface of graphite powder 10-500μm in average particle diameter with boron carbide powder 1-20μm in average particle diameter by use of a small amount of a binder at 5-50wt.% of the amount of the boron carbide powder used and also by applying mechanical power by a mechanochemical modification device to resul-t in <=50μm in average particle diameter of the final graphite. The amount of the boron carbide powder is pref. 3-15wt.% of the amount of the graphite powder to be used. The binder is pref. at least one kind selected from phenolic resin, pitch, fatty acids such as stearic acid and silicone resins. |
