PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element-forming device having a top force, a top force-holding barrel die for supporting the top force, a bottom force, and a bottom force-holding barrel die for supporting the bottom force, enabling to easily detach the forces from the force-holding barrel dies, respectively, even when molding processes are repeated many times. SOLUTION: This device 10 for forming optical elements is used for pressing a thermally softened optical element material 4 with a mold comprising a top force 22 and a bottom force 26. Therein, the forming device 10 is further provided with a top force-holding barrel die (20) for supporting the top force and a bottom force-holding barrel die (24) for supporting the bottom force, and satisfies relations:α1 >α2 andα1 '>α2 ' whereinα1 andα2 are the linear expansion coefficients of materials constituting the top and bottom forces, respectively, andα1 ' andα2 ' are the linear expansion coefficients of materials constituting the top and bottom force-holding barrel dies, respectively.
