摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enabling the easy confinement of light, and the occurrence of the laser oscillation, amplification, upconversion oscillation, etc., not only in Kr<+> laser and Ti-sapphire laser but also in a compact semiconductor laser of about 100W at a temperature around ambient temperature. SOLUTION: This hollow microsphere glass contains a rare earth element ion and has an outer diameter of >=20μm and a shell thickness of >=0.3μm. Ion of one or more elements selected from erbium, polonium, praseodymium, ytterbium, thulium, neodymium and cerium is cited as the rare earth element ion, and the ion is compounded to a host glass at a ratio of 0.005-10wt.%.
