摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an electric current injected into projecting strip sections formed on the surface of an upper clad layer to be efficiently supplied to the oscillating area of an active layer without circulation to other parts than the projecting strip sections by forming a contact layer only on the projecting strip sections. SOLUTION: A clad layer 13, an active layer 14, a clad layer 15, a contact layer 16 are successively formed on a substrate 12 in this order and projecting strip sections 19 are formed by removing both side parts of the layers 15 and 46. In addition, a diffraction grating is composed of forming a regular recessed section 19a between the strip sections 19. Since a current is given to an oscillating areaβfrom an electrode 18 through the contact layer 16 and the strip sections 19, the current hardly flows to other parts than the areaβ. In addition, since the diffraction grating is formed of the recessed section 19a immediately above the areaβ, the resonance effect of waves becomes higher in the areaβ.
