PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a rumen bypass formulation suitable for ruminants such as cattle, etc., safe for the ecosystem, having good bypass properties and excellent in digestivness by blending a predetermined amount of a biologically active material with a specific protecting material. SOLUTION: This additive to feed for ruminants is prepared by dispersing (A) 50-90wt.% biologically active material e.g. an amino acid such as methionine, lysine hydrochloride, etc., 2-hydroxy-4-methylmercaptolactic acid or its salt, etc., in (B) 10-50wt.% protecting material comprising (i) one or more compounds selected from an 8-24C (un)saturated aliphatic monocarboxylic acid (e.g. lauric acid, etc.), an 8-24C (un)saturated monohydric aliphatic alcohol (e.g. octanol, etc.) and a 2-8C (un)saturated aliphatic di- or tricarboxylic acid (e.g. oxalic acid, etc.) and (ii) a 12-24C (un)saturated aliphatic monocarboxylic acid salt (e.g. calcium salt, etc.) and having weight ratio of the components (i)/(ii) of (30/70)-(10/90). |
