PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a hand from being caught by a peeling pawl by covering the tip of the peeling pawl when an opening and closing unit is opened. SOLUTION: In a unit main body, plural paper ejection rollers 13... for ejecting a paper and the plural peeling pawls 6... are respectively disposed extending over in the longitudinal direction thereof. Besides, a pawl cover 7 freely slid in a direction shown by an arrow is fitted. When the work for paper jamming is executed by a user or maintenance work is executed as service, the pawl unit 4 of a fixing device is turned upward first. By turning the unit 4, the cover 7 and a lock member 8 become free. Then, the cover 7 is moved in a direction shown by an arrow (a')→(a) by the pressing force of a compression spring so as to cover the tip parts of the pawls 6.... Therefore, the hand or the like is not brought into contact with the tip parts of the pawls 6... and an accident is prevented from occurring.
