CHARACTER INPUT APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the input operability and diversity of a space in a hiragana input mode. SOLUTION: A character input apparatus has a hiragana/kanjl conversion data memory means (1) storing a code of a half em space and a code of an em space as the kanji code of a conversion destination setting one of both codes to a reading code, a kanji conversion command means (2) generating a conversion command to the kanji to a temporary decision character and a kanji candidate taking-out means (3) setting the code of the temporary decision character to a reading code when the conversion command to a kanji is applied to the temporay decision character to access the hiragana/kanji conversion data memory means to take out a kanji candidate and providing a plurality of the taken-out kanji candidates to a user at the same time or one by one and taking out the half em space and the em space as the kanji candidate when the temporary decision character is one space.
