In a device (1) for changing the timing of an internal combustion engine, a hydraulic leakage gap damper (35) is fitted in its pressure chambers (13, 15). Said damper (35) prevents the undesirable clatter caused by the high-frequency striking of a displacement piston (7) in the device (1), caused by the uneven rotation of the camshaft (10) and otherwise occurring in the present state of the art, especially when the internal combustion engine is started.
