Electrical power supply to MSR apparatus via intermediate pneumatic energy source for explosion hazardous process automation environments

An arrangement for supplying electrical power to electrical apparatus using pneumatic energy has a self-reversing piston (11) with a spring (2) in a fixed cylinder to which a pneumatic source is connected. The spring is tensioned between the piston rod (3) and a fixed piezoelectric element (1). This has terminals that are attached to the primary winding of a transformer. The secondary winding is a combination of a rectifier and a voltage regulator, at whose output is the apparatus. The cylinder has an inlet (5) for the pressurised medium and an outlet (6) displaced in the piston's movement direction that is closed by the piston surface at its bottom dead centre.
