Interlocking three-dimensional building elements (8, 8') for piecing together an object that occupies a given space are disclosed. Each of the elements (8, 8') includes a base (2) provided with recesses (11), and a wall (3). The recesses (11) include an aperture (6) and a blind hole (7) in one of the side surfaces. Keys (12-13, 12'-13') are slidable in the blind hole (15) in such a way that they fit into the blind hole (14) of an adjacent element (8') and lock the elements together. A method for making said elements, and the use thereof, particularly for producing a three-dimensional jigsaw puzzle, are also disclosed.
