In a drive with several flat linear motors arranged next to each other and having each a plate-shaped stator (4, 5, 6) and a plate-shaped rotor (1), as well as at least one magnet (3) that generates a magnetic field or windings (2) through which flows a current, the size of the drive, in particular transversely to the driving motion of the drive, may be reduced and service life may be increased by arranging the windings (2) inside the rotor (1). Additionally or alternatively, the magnets (3) are arranged in a plate (6) of the stator. Additionally or alternatively, it is also possible to gather the linear motors in a pack. Two-phase synchronous motors are particularly advantageous as linear motors.
