The component, e.g. a resistor, capacitor, or gas-filled overvoltage diverter, has a pair of lead wires (24,25) projecting from its opposing ends, each bent to lie in the plane of the component end face. The free ends (26,27) of the lead wires are bent at an angle in the parallel plane, to provide horizontal support feet. A further support point lying in a triangular configuration with the support feet is provided by the bent free end (29) of a third lead wire (28) extending from the component mantle at its centre.
