A gas scrubber for removing solubles or suspended particles from a gas. The gas scrubber comprises a chamber (20) for receiving gas laden with solubles for scrubbing with a liquid. First (60) and second (70) scrubbing surfaces of a rotatable wheel (50) housed in the chamber are wetted with a scrubbing liquid and move through the gas as the wheel rotates for transferring solubles from the gas to the scrubbing liquid. The first and second scrubbing surfaces comprise vanes for creating turbulence and moving the gas through the scrubber. The vanes proximate the first scrubbing surface increase in height from the axis of the wheel to its periphery to move gas radially outward. Scrubbing liquid is distributed across the scrubbing surfaces from inlet ports (30, 34).
