The arrangement has a motor which drives the sliding roof or window and one or more Hall effect sensors (1) which generate position information. The need for wiring is eliminated by mounting the Hall effect sensors on a motor control board (2). The controller with the Hall effect sensors is mounted on the motor so that the sensors protrude through an opening (4) in the motor housing. A magnet or magnets required to generate speed pulses in conjunction with the sensors is or are mounted on or around the motor shaft.
