Alarm to indicate wear on open end spinning rotor bearing discs

An open end spinning rotor shaft (3) is supported radially on bearing discs (6,7). A sensor is arranged at a defined radial distance from the spinning rotor to provide a signal for an evaluation circuit when touched by the rotor. The sensor (33) is an electrical conductor (34) which is easily destroyed through friction. Preferably the sensing element (33) is a copper wire fitted a small distance away from the rotor shaft (3). It completes a circuit (35) which, when broken, activates the stop mechanisms.
