Compressed data, obtained by compressing (in 13) successively inputted digital data 10, are divided into clusters, and cluster connection sectors longer than an interleaving length are provided at connection portions of respective clusters to implement interleaving processing for recording data to record them in a recording/reproducing area A<6><4> of a magneto-optical disc 2, and to reproduce them using an optical head 3. From a reproduction or playback only area A<5><4> of the magneto-optical disc 2, additional data are reproduced from sectors corresponding to the cluster connection sectors. An area on a disc 2 for additional data is ensured in a reproduction or playback only area A<5><4> where recording data of the same data structure as that of a recording/reproducing area are recorded, thus making it possible to reproduce the additional data along with the recording data.
