PURPOSE:To realize a laser oscillator having a large aperture beyond the limit of Fresnel number and a short resonator by specifying a value of configuration parameter of a discharge tube of which inner wall cross section is 2n-gon and outer wall cross section is circular. CONSTITUTION:A discharge tube 20 has an inner wall cross section of 2n-gonal figure (n=2, 3...) and a circular outer wall cross section. It is made to establish a relationship of (D0-Di)/Di<0.4, where D0 is the outer diameter of the discharge tube 20, and Di is the distance between the opposing tops of the 2n-gonal figure. In this way, it is possible to increase a current density at the center of the discharge tube 20 positively as compared with the other section and to realize a laser resonator having a large aperture beyond the limit of Fresnel number and a short resonator. |
