The cover is designed to fit over the existing brickwork of a drain constructed between the edge of a sports track and an inner grasses area. The cover consists of a metal grille (1) surrounded by a frame (2) with stepped ends (9) to fit tightly against the brickwork. It is surmounted by a tube (7) which acts as a rail separating the grass from the track. On the grass side of the grille the frame extends the whole height of the grille, while on the track side it is some 5 mm less to facilitate the inflow of rainwater from the track surface. Each frame end (9) has an elongated hole (6) so that sections of cover can be joined together end to end by bolts. The tube projects some 5 mm beyond each frame end and adjoining tube ends are joined together by sleeve couplings.
