PURPOSE:To improve wear resistance and lubrication by sequentially forming an alloy plating layer and a gold plating layer by electroless plating, then heat treating them and forming a gold-diffused plating layer on a ball seat. CONSTITUTION:An alloy plating layer 2 is formed on a ball point pen tip made of metal copper, nickel, aluminum, etc., or alloy, brass, white silver, etc. by electroless plating. This plating is desirably with nickel-phosphorus alloy or nickel-boron alloy, phosphorus content is 1 - 15%, boron content is 1 - 10%, and its thickness is 1 - 10mum. A gold-plated layer 3 is formed on the alloy plated layer 2 by electroless plating. This thickness is desirably 0.1 - 3mum. Thereafter, it is heat treated to form a gold-diffused plated layer 4 in which gold diffusion amount is increased toward the surface. The gold-diffused plated layer 4 is formed at least on a ball seat 5. Further, when it is also formed at a ball point pen tip end 6, the end of the ball point pen tip can be smoothly written without scratching a sheet. |
