Apparatus with an adaptor for reading chipcards of different formats

The apparatus includes a programme mode adaptor which is housed in a portable telephone lid (3). The lid has a long elongated sliding section (4) which can be reversed so that the upper face or lower face is showing. The lower face has side sliding rails (5) at one end with an end stop (6) and a protruding position holder (7). A programmed smart card adaptor is placed in the holder and has connector strips which protrude and contact an adaptor on the main body. By reversing the sliding section, micro-SIM or full-SIM adaptor mode can be introduced.
