PURPOSE:To obtain good C/N and corrosion resistance by incorporating silicon, aluminum, oxygen and nitrogen as well as >=1 kinds among specific elements into an intermediate layer and specifying the total of the content of the specific elements and the contents of the silicon and nitride. CONSTITUTION:This magneto-optical recording medium 1 has the intermediate layer 4 on a substrate 2 and has a thin magnetic film layer 5 as a recording layer thereon. The silicon, aluminum, oxygen and nitrogen are incorporated into the intermediate layer 4 and further, >=1 kinds among yttrium and lanthanoid elements and actinoid elements are incorporated therein. The content of >=1 kinds among the yttrium and lanthanoid elements and actinoid elements is specified to 2-35at.% and the total of the contents of the silicon and nitride is specified to 20-95at.%. These elements are the essential elements and the lack of even one thereof is averted. The optical recording medium which has the excellent recording and reproducing characteristics and C/N ratio, provides a sufficient reflectivity and has good corrosion resistance is thereby obtd. |
