PURPOSE: To effectively utilize a large amount of hitherto discarded mantle of scallop as a food by accelerating shucked scallop together with water, forcing the scallop to collide with a perforated plate and separating the midintestinal gland by the impact force of collision. CONSTITUTION: A mantle 2 attached with a midintestinal gland 3 is supplied together with water from an inlet port 11 to separate the midintestinal gland from the mantle. The mantle 2 free from the midintestinal gland 3 is discharged together with water from the discharging port 12 of a casing 8. The diameter of the hole of the perforated plate 4 is 0.5-10mmϕ, preferably 2-5mmϕ to inhibit the passage of the mantle 2 and allow the smooth passage of water containing disintegrated midintestinal gland 3. Shucked scallop 9 bonded with the midintestinal gland 3 of the mantle 2 is accelerated together with water and made to collide with the perforated plate 4 to separate the midintestinal gland 3 by the impact force of collision.
