摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To enable the shape of an electron beam to be easily controlled so as to obtain electron emission aligned in a line by changing each width of two electrodes for forming an electrode gap. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode 1 with a narrower width W1 and a negative electrode 2 with a wider width W2 are formed on a substrate 4. The electrodes 1 and 2 are formed by deposition of such metals as Ni, Al, Cu, Au, Pt and Ag or such metallic oxides as SnO3 and ITO. W2 should preferably be tens or more times wider than W1. An electron emitting portion 5 is formed between the electrodes 1 and 2 so as to be subjected to a foaming process. Application of voltage by a power source 9 allows the electrode 1 side to become positive, thereby emitting electrons. At a luminescent spot 7 on a phosphor substrate 6, the trajecting direction of the electrons is observed.</p>
