PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser which is excellent in modulation characteristics, small in size, and high in stability. SOLUTION: A laser is equipped with a laser medium 20 which oscillates basic laser rays and comprised in an optical resonator 25, a nonlinear optical device 21 which generates sum frequency laser rays basing on the basic laser rays and mixing laser rays and comprised in the resonator 25, a semiconductor laser 10 which generates exciting laser rays for exciting the laser medium 21, and a semiconductor laser 30 which is provided outside the resonator 25 to generate mixing laser rays. Material short in fluorescence emission time is used as a laser medium, or a laser medium is adjusted in dopant concentration and a pumping ratio, whereby laser rays of stun frequency are markedly restrained in relaxation oscillation. |
