PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change the standard of accelerator operation speed for deciding whether a speed change pattern is changed over or not in response to the opera tion trend of a driver. SOLUTION: An averageμs of the frequency distribution in a short term concerning an accelerator operation speed dTH, an averageμl of the frequency distribution of a long term and a standard deviationσl represented by the positive value of the square root of a dispersionσl <2> concerted to the frequency distribution of the long term samely are found out. Whenμs stays between an upper limit value set by (μl +σl ) and a lower limit value set by (μl -σl ), as a nearly usual accelerator operation is carried out, a normal pattern is selected. Whenμs is smaller than the lower limit value, as a slower accelerator operation than usual is carried out, an economy pattern is selected and whenμs is larger than the upper limit value, as a quicker accelerator operation than usual is carried out, a power pattern is selected. |
