PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the burden of inspecting the status of a printer engine. SOLUTION: A status control part 401 is connected to the printer engine, to control its status. As the kinds of statuses, STATUSES 0 to 9 exist. When any status is changed, the status control part 401 outputs information for showing the status involved in the change, to a change detecting part 403. An information status holding part 402 chooses whether to inform a printer controller of the change in the status or not, when any status is changed, that is, the information statuses. When the change detecting part 403 detects the fact that one of the information statuses is changed, the detecting part 403 informs the printer controller of the change with a/CCRT signal. The printer controller recognizes the change in the/CCRT signal, to obtain the information for specifying the changed status, based on the recognized change. |
