<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a traffic shaping function for a logic connection, in the ATM protocol processing controller executing the protocol processing of an AAL layer and an ATM layer. SOLUTION: This controller has the cell transmission control part 148 composed of control entries 404A to 404N controlling the cell transmission intervals corresponding to a VC (logic connection), timer processing parts 418A to 418N counting the cell transmission intervals and issuing time out signals when cell transmission time comes and a scheduler part 400 scheduling the time out signals from the plural timer processing parts 418A to 418N and the cell transmission request from the CPU core by the setting of a transmission request register 406 and issuing the cell transmission request for a cell transmission DMAC 140. Thus, the traffic shaping in which the cell transmission for the logic connection that the cell transmission control part 148 controls and the cell transmission for the logic connection to be controlled by the firmwave that the CPU core executes are combined is realized.</p> |
