<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce mosquito noise of block-processed image data without increasing the circuit scale. SOLUTION: Input image data are fed sequentially to delay elements DL302-305 and a noted picture element is given to the DL 303. Difference absolute value calculation circuits 306-309 calculate absolute values of difference between the noted picture element value and a left adjacent picture element value and between the noted picture element value and a right adjacent picture element value. Comparator circuits 311-314 allow switches 316-319 to select a corresponding picture element in the case of each difference value < threshold level, and to select null in other cases. A switch 101 selects the noted picture element or null depending on number of selected and corresponding picture elements. An adder 102 adds values selected by the switches 101, 316-319 and the added output is averaged by shifting bits of the output at a shift register 103 depending on the count of the counter 315.</p> |
