PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve durability and to make high-density recording possible by specifying the thickness of a magnetic layer to a specific value range and disposing an under coating layer having a thickness including conductive powder and oleyl oleate above the thickness of the magnetic layer between the magnetic layer and a substrate. SOLUTION: The thickness of the magnetic layer formed via the under coating layer on the substrate is specified to >=0.3 to <=0.5μm, by which the high- density recording is made possible. The under coating layer disposed between the substrate and the magnetic layer is made thicker than in the magnetic layer to incorporate a sufficient amt. of the conductive powder and the oleyl oleate into this layer and to make the surface electric resistance of the magnetic layer sufficiently low. The oleyl oleate in the under coating layer and magnetic layer of the magnetic disk rotating at a high speed is made easily movable in the under coating layer as a passage along centrifugal force, by which the oleyl oleate is sufficiently oozed in the position where the magnetic head slides. As a result, the wear resistance and durability are improved. |
