PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an agent with which a liquid crystal oriented film that causes no peeling can be formed on a transparent electrode substrate and also, the residual voltage after stopping voltage application can be lowered so as to hardly form any residual image on a display screen and further, high contrast display performance can be attained by using as essential components of the agent, a polyamic acid or imide polymer derived from a polyamic acid and a thermally crosslinkable compound. SOLUTION: This agent contains at least one polymer selected from polyamic acids and imide polymers derived from them and at least one thermally crosslinkable compound selected from compounds represented by the formulae I to III. In the formulae I to III: each of R<1> to R<5> is an alkyl or alkoxyl group or a halogen atom, their groups and atoms are the same or different; each of (a) to (c) is a 0 to 4 integer; each of (d) and (e) is 0 to 3 integer; each of R<6> to R<9> is a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, their groups are the same or different; and (f) is a 1 to 10 integer. |
