The invention relates to a method for fixing timber preservative agent, in which method impregnated timber and the preservative agent therein are heated up by steam in an impregnating cylinder 1. The method of fixing timber preservative agent according to the invention is characterised in that inside the lower part of the impregnating cylinder 1 there is a heating element 2, by means of which a small quantity of water is heated under negative pressure, the water being vaporised at a low temperature owing to the low pressure, the heated steam heating up the entire volume of the impregnating cylinder 1 and at the same time the timber that is situated therein. <IMAGE>
