<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To economically and safely remove formaldehyde by using an adsorbent which is formed by depositing a reaction product of phosphoric acid, ammonium sulfate, or the like with hydrazine on a carrier consisting essentially of a porous mineral whose surface layer comprises silica. SOLUTION: In this method, a carrier consisting essentially of a porous mineral whose surface layer comprises silica, such as silica gel or activated clay is used. A reaction product of phosphoric acid, ammonium sulfate or a mixed aq. solution of these compounds with hydrazine is deposited on the carrier to form an adsorbent having air purification capacity. This adsorbent is used for economically and safely removing formaldehyde which is harmful to the human body and is produced in rooms of a newly-constructed house or from new furniture, etc.</p> |
