PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the thermal stability of a vinyl chloride resin compsn. without using a heavy metal stabilizer by compounding a vinyl chloride resin with a disaccharide having ether ring structures (e.g. trehalose) and a hydrotalcite compd. SOLUTION: This resin compsn. is prepd. by compounding 100 pts.wt. vinyl chloride resin with 0.001-10 pts.wt. disaccharide having two ether ring structures and 0.001-10 pts.wt. hydrotalcite compd. The disaccharide has a structure formed by the condensation by dehydration of a monosaccharide represented by the formula, trehalose [α-Glcp(1→1)α-Glcp] being an esp. pref. example in terms of giving heat resistance. The hydrotalcite compd. may be natural or synthetic, and the one surface-treated with a higher fatty acid, etc., may be used. Thus, even when the compsn. further contains a small amt. of a plasticizer, an excellent thermal stability can be imparted to the vinyl chloride resin without using a heavy metal stabilizer.
