<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a catalyst of high activity having only a low deactivating speed by providing a process treating the catalyst with an acid when the catalyst for hydrogenating anthraquinone or a derivative thereof used in the production of hydrogen peroxide is activated. SOLUTION: When a catalyst used in the hydrogenation of anthraquinone or a derivative thereof in the production of hydrogen peroxide is activated, a process treating the catalyst with an acid is provided. As the acid, nitric acid, orthophosphoric acid and sulfuric acid are used and, as the catalyst, an active substance selected from among nickel, palladium, platinum, rhodium, ruthenium and a mixture of them is used. By bringing this catalyst into contact with an acid over about 5min or more, the activation thereof is achieved effectively. Pref., at first, the catalyst is treated with an org. solvent and subsequently treated with an acid. As the org. solvent, an aromatic hydrocarbon, an aliphatic hydrocarbon, a naphthenic hydrocarbon or a mixture of them is used.</p> |
