CATALYST FOR OXYCHLORINATION OF ETHYLENE AND MANUFACTURE THEREOF, AND OXYCHLORINATION METHOD OF ETHYLENE USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce occurrence of charge losses in a fixed bed reactor and improve activity and selectability of a catalyst for oxychlorination of ethylene to 1,2-dichloroethane by applying a specific surface area/volume ratio and specific porosity to the catalyst. SOLUTION: In this catalyst suitable for fixed bed oxychlorination of ethylene to 1,2-dichloroethane obtained by compression secondary forming (tabletting), the catalyst containing copper chloride as an active component and having hollow cylindrical granular shape having at least three through holes therein and granule of a carrier for the catalyst are manufactured in a compression secondary forming, in which a slip agent applied onto the wall surface of a forming chamber and a plunger of metallic mold is used as a lubricant. This catalyst has surface area in the range of 80-380m<2> /g and 40% or more of pore volume has a radius of 60-70Å. And the granule has surface area/volume ratio larger than 2.0 and has radius of curvature of protrusion/through hole ratio in the range of 1.3-2.7.
