PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the water-resistance and ensure a good ink absorbing property and high quality of an image by a method wherein an ink-receptive layer contains polyvinyl acetal that is obtained by acetalizing polyvinyl alcohol having a specified degree of polymerization. SOLUTION: Polyvinyl acetal contained in an ink-receptive layer is obtained by acetalizing polyvinyl alcohol, and polyvinyl alcohol as a raw material is required to have a specified degree of polymerization of 500-2500. As for acetalization reaction of polyvinyl alcohol, a solution method, homogeneous method, precipitation method, etc., can be used, and it is desirable that the degree of acetalization is 3-30%. Thereby, the ink-receptive layer is excellent in quick drying of and water-resistance to water-base ink and allows a high- quality image to be formed. Therefore, the range of use of a high-speed, inexpensive ink-jet printer can be increased. |
