PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To destroy only a new blood vessel without affecting normal cells by outputting laser beams more than the output for destroying the new blood vessel through the photochemical reaction of photosensitive materials and less than the output to damage the normal cells near the new blood vessel. SOLUTION: Photosensitive materials are applied to an examinee by an intravenous injection, either an exciter filter 3 or a barrier filter 16 is selectively inserted into an optical path and while using an ordinary light source 1, the eyeground of an eye E to be examined is illuminated by an illumination system 100. Afterwards, the new blood vessel is confirmed on a monitor 24 and irradiated with the laser beams of weak output by turning on the power source of an eximer laser 14, the range to be irradiated with laser beams is limited by a variable diaphragm 25 and laser beams are radiated by switching the output to strong output setting after the new blood vessel is guided into the range. In this case, the laser beams are outputted at a strength more than the output to destroy the new blood vessel through the photochemical reaction of photosensitive materials and less than the output to damage to normal cells near the new blood vessel. |
