PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the noise and reduce nitrogen oxides. SOLUTION: By using a sound absorbing structural body having a sound absorbing body 1 consisting of a porous material 12 carrying titanium dioxide 13 so that the sound absorbing body 1 can be irradiated with light, noise associated with the traveling of vehicle or the like is absorbed by the sound absorbing body 1 and is reduced, and air near the earth's surface in which many nitrogen oxides exist flies up by wind pressure associated with the traveling of vehicles and the like and is conveyed to the sound absorbing body 1. On the other hand, the titanium dioxide 13 carried by the sound absorbing body 1 is activated by the irradiation of light. And when the nitrogen dioxide in air conveyed by the sound absorbing body 1 comes into contact with the activated titanium dioxide 13, the nitrogen dioxide is removed by strong oxidizing capacity due to the activity of the titanium dioxide 13. Besides, since the titanium dioxide 13 is carried by the sound absorbing body 1 consisting of a porous material having large surface area, the surface area of the titanium dioxide 13 in contact with air is large to effectively remove the nitrogen oxides. |
