POWDERY OR GRANULAR MATERIAL FOR MOLDING AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molding powder or granule having high moldability and giving a molded polyimide article having excellent mechanical strength and provide its production process. SOLUTION: This powdery or granular material for molding is composed of a filler coated its surface completely or partly with fine particles of a polyimide precursor having particle diameter of <=2μm. The molding material can be produced by reacting an aromatic tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride with an aromatic diamine in an organic solvent free from strong solvating action on the polyimide precursor while keeping the filler in a state dispersed in the solvent.
