PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a detergent improved in the curtailment of a packaging container, ease of carrying, and distribution efficiency and excellent in detergency, mildness, fluidity, etc., by blending a specified nonionic surfactant with a component comprising a specified agent for rendering isotropic. SOLUTION: This detergent comprises a highly concentrated isotropic composition with a water content of at most 50wt.% and contains component (A) and component (B) as the essential constituents. The component A comprises a nonionic polyalkylene glycol surfactant. The component B comprises an agent for rendering isotropic, which, when mixed with the component A, has a molecular interaction parameterβcalculated by formula I of -1.0 to 1.0 and is capable of rendering a high-order association structure formed by the component A in a highly concentrated aqueous solution optically isotropic. In the formula,βis a molecular interaction parameter;αis a molar fraction in a solution phase; X1 is a molar fraction calculated by formula II; and D1 , D2 and D12 are each a critical micelle concentration.
