PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a car washing device and establish its control method, with which a car can be washed at a high speed by moving a top surface brush as tracing the contour while the top surface position is being detected, and controlling the top surface brush quickly and certainly. SOLUTION: A car washing device concerned 5 washes a car while its traveling frame 10 is moved, and the top surface position emitted by a top surface position output part 22 is processed to the target value and stored by/in a target position output/memory part 24. The current position of a top surface brush 31 is determined from a top surface brush position output part 25, and from the obtained value, the moving direction to the stored target position is determined with inclinationϕ. The elevating/sinking speed of the top surface brush 31 is determined from the traveling speed and inclinationϕ, and the top surface brush 31 is moved by an elevating/sinking device 17. Because it is possible to make control of the top surface brush 31 only by determining the inclination, the brush 31 can be moved quickly and the frame 10 can travel at a high speed.
