PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the above safe inhibitor containing, as active ingredient, GOD-type ellagitannin, having hyperglycemia inhibitory activity and anti-obese activity, thus useful as a medicine for treating/preventing diabetes and obesity, or an animal feed. SOLUTION: This inhibitor contains, as active ingredient, (A) GOD-type ellagitannin, a compound having structural unit of the formula (R1 and R2 are each hexahydroxydiphenoyl). The ingredient A is obtained by subjecting a plant of Rosaceae such as Rubus lambertianus Seringe, Sanguisorba officinalis L., Rubus coreanus Miq. or Rosa henryi BOUL. to extraction with 5-100wt. times of a solvent such as water or ethanol at a temperature ranging from room temperature to the boiling point followed by treatment with an adsorbent, membrane separation, solvent fractionation, etc., into a high-purity product. It is preferable that the amount of this inhibitor (medicinal agent) to be administered is 0.5-5000mg/day on a ginuine basis of the ingredient A. |
