PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a feed additive composition for ruminant containing a newl compound salt between a kind of phosphoric acid and amino acids and a water-insoluble salt of a specific water-soluble macromolecular substance in which they are stable in the rumen but basic amino acids are leached out and efficiently digested in the abomasum and the following digestive tracts. SOLUTION: This feed additive composition comprises (A) Ra Mgb Mc Hd PO4 .nH2 O (R is hydrogen cation of a basic amino acid; M is a m-valent metal other than Mg; m is 2, 3; a is 0.1-1; b is 0.85-1.43; c is 0.02-0.6; d is 0-0.3 where a+2b+mc+d=3; n is 0-20) and (B) a water-soluble salt of a water-soluble macromolecular substance having polyvalent metal acceptability such as calcium alginate. This food additive compound is preferably prepared by mixing the component (A) with an aqueous solution of water-soluble macromolecular substance having polyvalent metal sensitivity and drying them. The component A is preferably obtained by mixing basic amino acid, magnesium and phosphoric acid in water to form an intermediate compound salt, and treating the intermediate compound salt with a polyvalent metal other than Mg.
