摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a heat-sensitive recording material that is excellent in water and solvent resistances and a good whiteness as well by containing polyvi nyl alcohol based resin, chitosan and naphthal imide based cationic fluorescent dye in a protective layer on a heat-sensitive coloring layer. SOLUTION: Polyvinyl alcohol having a degree of polymerization of 100-3,000 and degree of saponification in a range of 70-100mol% is used, and in the case of water-soluble one, a modified PVA such as carboxyl group modified type, sulfonic acid group modified type and vinyl ether co-polymerized type is used other than ordinary PVA. Chitosan which contains 40% or more of amino groups or in which part of or all of amino groups are converted to ammonium groups by acid is used. As for fluorescent dye, a naphthal imide type cation fluorescent dye is used. Protective layer forming components that simultaneously contain the above mentioned PVA resin, chitosan and naphthal imide type cationic fluorescent dye is applied on a carrier and dried to form a protective layer. As a result, an excellent barrier property and a good whiteness can be maintained.
