PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the above suppressing agent containing gingerol or the derivative thereof as an active component, effective for suppressing the expression of a heat shock protein group having a specific molecular weight and useful for the treatment of cancer related with the protein and disseminated sclerosis, etc., relating to the crisis of the cancer. SOLUTION: This agent suppresses the synthesis of heat shock proteins having a molecular weight of 16-40kD and contains a gingerol (derivative) e.g. (S)-5-hydroxy-1-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-3-decanone of the formula which is a [6]-gingerol produced by extracting a gingerol-containing plant such as SHOUKYOU (rhizome of Zingiber officinale) with a solvent such as ethyl alcohol, a mixture of ethyl alcohol and water, etc.}. The suppressing agent is administered at a daily rate of 1mg to 10g for adult in terms of [6]-gingerol in 1-4 divided doses by oral or parenteral administration. |
