The volume measurement unit for dispensing popcorn has a plate (5) at the bottom of the container holding the popcorn (3). The plate has a bean-shaped hole (6). A second plate (9) immediately below the first plate carries a cylinder (8) suspended below it. The cylinder acts as the measure of the volume of popcorn. A third plate (14) lies immediately below the bottom of the cylinder. The measuring cylinder is rotated beneath the bean-shaped hole and popcorn falls into the cylinder. At this stage the bottom of the cylinder is closed by the bottom plate. The plate carrying the cylinder is then rotated further, and a blade (7) scrapes the surplus from the top. Continuing the rotation brings the cylinder above a hole (13) in the bottom plate, allowing the popcorn to fall into a container placed beneath the hole, for collection by the user. |
