The base point of the monopole antenna (A) is surrounded by a hollow cylinder (HZ1) of electrically conductive material. Both the input impedance and the radiation pattern of the monopole antenna can be adjusted by changing the physical dimensions of the hollow cylinder i.e. its length and diameter. In addition the aperture diameter of the opening for the base point of the monopole antenna in the electrically conductive housing can be used for adjustment. A further hollow cylinder of electrically conductive material (HZ2) is conductively connected to the monopole antenna.
