METHOD OF ISOLATING AND GROWING RECOMBINANT EB VIRUSES

A method of producing recombinant EB viruses in large quantities by introducing foreign genes containing selected markers into EB virus plasmids carried by Akata cells by homologous recombination, sorting out cell clones from which wild type virus plasmids have completely fallen out and which contain only recombinant plasmids from among the cell clones subjected to homologous recombination, and treating the sorted cells with an antihuman immunoglobulin antibody. As it is thus possible to isolate and grow recombinant EB viruses in large quantities, it is possible to isolate and grow recombinant EB viruses having various foreign genes inserted thereinto. The obtained recombinant EB viruses are usable as an immunifacient vaccine for pathogens and in the gene therapy for inborn errors of metabolism and cancers.
