An electrode assembly for a resectoscope (18) includes a cutting electrode (1) with a loop distal tip and a first power density. A coagulation electrode (2) has a loop distal tip and a second power density that is smaller than the first power density. A support frame is connected to the cutting and coagulation electrodes (1, 2) and to an energy source (24) to supply energy from the energy source (24) to the cutting and coagulation electrodes (1, 2). The coagulation electrode (2) provides tissue coagulation simultaneously while the cutting electrode (1) cuts tissue. A resectoscope (18) is disclosed which includes the electrode assembly. The resectoscope includes a sheath (14) with a sheath lumen (14a, 14b), a working element (15), and a visualization apparatus (16).
