The machine has a gantry type frame 1 that supports pneumatic suction head 8 grippers used to extract electronic chip components from carrier slots 14 in magazine units. The gripper heads are supported on compound slides 11, 12 that permit movement in the X and Y directions. Printed circuit boards may be fed along the centre of the machine to loading positions and chips selected from assigned magazine locations can be automatically mounted.
